Welcome to all Traders
We welcome all traders, and hope to be able to offer you an excellent market, with a proven crowd flow, an excellent year round footfall, and the best kipper crowd in the North.
We are situated less than 2 miles from the largest army base in Europe at Catterick Camp, as well as the close proximity to the growing urban centres of Teeside, Darlington, and Catterick, a less than one hours drive from Leeds and Newcastle.
The proximity to the A1 is a lifeline and as the A1 upgrading takes shape, we remain very positive about the strength of the footfall in years to come.

Traders have high expectations these days and our mission is to meet the demands of the market trader head on. We only have pitches on Hard Standing. Nearly all the pitches have room for van behind and the market is in a dead straight line, so no hidden corners, dead ends or inferior pitches.
We acknowledge that trade is better at the top end rather than at the end of the market so we have adapted our charging structure to match, with excellent offers to traders who occupy pitches further down the market length.
We also have a proven and popular ‘Cheap Rent Scheme’ to reduce the expenses during the traditionally quieter months of January, February and March. Please see ‘Kipper rent deals’ for details. That said however we do maintain an excellent footfall during the ‘Kipper’ which we feel makes a viable option for traders who may have a show commitment during the Summer but want to have a Winter market as well.
We will be continuing with the Kipper rent (cheap rent scheme) again for the months of January, February and March. The scheme is as follows:
- The rent will be reduced to £1.75 per foot plus £1 per day for all traders (£2.30 per foot plus £1 for caterers) who attend all markets during this period (January, February and March)
- Should a trader miss a market during this period for any reason other than the market being cancelled to bad weather by myself, then the rent will be increased to normal rent of £2.50 per foot plus £1 per day (£3.75 per foot plus £1 for caterers)
- Traders may however use their holiday entitlement if they still have it to miss two markets during this period and still stay on the cheap rent until the end of March 2012.
- In addition all traders who do not miss a market during the period January, February and March 2012 may continue to trade at the cheap rent until the end of May.
This scheme has proved fair and popular with traders over the years and I hope it continues to be so.
However IN ADDITION to this scheme, I propose an even more attractive scheme to reward traders for their attendance. If you do not miss a market during January, February and March, you will receive a voucher giving you 4 FREE RENT DAYS, which can be used for any market from April 1st to 31st December 2012.
